Hurst Doors
The UK’s leading uPVC panel door manufacturer. Yorkshire-built. Trade-favoured. Who Are Hurst?
Hurst Doors is the door division of Hurst Plastics Limited, part of the family-owned Hurst Group — a Yorkshire-based building products business with around 50 years of trading history. Group head office is in Bradford; door panel manufacturing is at a purpose-built facility in Hull. The group turns over more than £45m a year with 350+ employees, and the door division alone produces over 3,500 panels per week — supplying a network of more than 2,000 trade partners across the UK and exporting from Spain to the Middle East.
Hurst Doors has nearly 30 years of experience as a UK uPVC panel manufacturer, making them the largest and most established trade-focused supplier in the UK panel door market.
Why Hurst?
| UK’s largest panel door manufacturer | 3,500+ panels per week, 2,000+ trade partners. The default specification when a UK uPVC panel door is being ordered. |
|---|---|
| Securicore™ — UK’s first fully PAS24-accredited glazed panel | Launched in 2024 after two years of development, Securicore is a 4mm uPVC reinforcement that passes the PAS24 cut-through test — the historic Achilles’ heel of glazed PVC-U panel doors — without changing the standard 28mm panel format. The first PVC-U glazed panel door to hold full PAS24 accreditation. |
| Heat Reflective Technology | Each panel combines a heat-reflective outer skin with an extra high-density core. PVC-U panels achieve U-values as low as 1.3 W/m²K on large glazed formats — comfortably beating the 1.4 W/m²K Approved Document L threshold. |
| Vacuum-formed, CNC-machined | Two PVC skins are vacuum-formed and bonded to a high-density core via CNC routing. The result: precision panel geometry that matches every order, with hand finishing for surface quality. |
| Fire performance | Manufactured to BS 476 Part 7 Class 1 for surface spread of flame. Fire-door range is BM TRADA Q-Mark certified to EN 1634-1. |
| Sustainability led | Closed-loop recycling at the factory: 300 tonnes of PVC-U and 134 tonnes of timber recycled per year. On-site biomass boiler heats the Bradford HQ from waste timber. Sales fleet switched to hybrid — emissions cut from 132 g/km to 32 g/km. |
| 5-day trade lead times | Standard PVC-U panels ship in 5 working days from order; Modern Collection in 7 working days; composite in 10 working days. Among the fastest in the UK panel door trade. |
| Hurst Live trade portal | 24/7 ordering, live quote generation, order and delivery tracking, marketing assets, Door Designer and 3D Visualiser. Plus integration with Kubu Smart Lock for connected-home customers. |

Distinctive Technology
Securicore™ — PAS24 Without Compromising the Panel
For decades the cut-through test was the failure point that kept PVC-U panel doors out of PAS24 accreditation. In 2024 Hurst launched Securicore: a 4mm uPVC compound reinforcement engineered specifically to defeat the cut-through test — without increasing panel thickness or altering U-values. As Sales Director Mark Atkinson put it: “The cut-through test was always the Achilles’ heel for PVC-U.” The result is the UK’s first fully PAS24-accredited PVC-U glazed panel door, available across the Hurst range as an upgrade option.
Vacuum-Forming + CNC
Each panel is built by vacuum-forming two PVC-U skins around a high-density core, then CNC-routed to final geometry and hand-finished. The combination delivers precision panel-to-frame fit at scale — critical when a builder is fitting one Hurst panel into an existing frame on site.
Heat Reflective Technology
The outer skin combines polymer chemistry with heat-reflective additives that reduce solar gain on the door surface (helps in summer) and reduce heat transfer through the panel core (helps in winter). PVC-U panels achieve U-values as low as 1.3 W/m²K on large glazed formats; smaller solid-panel formats go significantly lower.
Closed-Loop Recycling
Hurst’s factory operates a closed-loop recycling programme that takes back end-of-life PVC-U panels, separates the skins from the core, and recycles both streams — alongside parallel programmes for timber, glass, polyethene, polystyrene, lead, aluminium and steel. The on-site biomass boiler at Bradford HQ burns timber waste to heat the factory, displacing natural gas.

Where Hurst Sits in Our Range
Hurst is the UK trade default for uPVC panel doors. We stock Hurst alongside our composite door range (which uses GRP-skinned panels rather than PVC-U), and alongside the Liniar French / patio / bi-fold door systems and REHAU AGILA bi-fold. Quick guide:

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are Hurst doors manufactured?
The door division operates from a purpose-built facility in Hull, England, with group head office in Bradford, West Yorkshire. All panels are designed and manufactured in the UK.
What does Securicore™ do?
Securicore™ is a 4mm uPVC compound reinforcement built into the panel structure, engineered specifically to pass the PAS24 cut-through test — historically the failure mode that excluded uPVC panel doors from PAS24 accreditation. With Securicore, Hurst PVC-U glazed panel doors are the first in the UK to hold full PAS24 accreditation. Critically, it adds no thickness to the panel and no compromise to thermal performance.
Are Hurst panels thermally efficient?
Yes — Heat Reflective Technology delivers U-values as low as 1.3 W/m²K on large glazed PVC-U formats, comfortably below the 1.4 W/m²K Approved Document L threshold. Smaller solid-panel formats achieve significantly lower U-values. For the very best thermal performance on a front door, specify a composite door instead (GRP skin / polyurethane foam core).
What are Hurst’s lead times?
5 working days for Standard Collection PVC-U panels, 7 working days for Modern Collection, 10 working days for composite door equivalents. Fire doors and bespoke specifications: contact us for current lead time.
Can Hurst panels be fitted into an existing frame?
Yes — this is one of the most common scenarios. Order a Hurst replacement panel sized to your existing door frame opening; the panel slots in to refresh the entrance without a full frame replacement. Bring your existing frame opening dimensions and a photo to your local branch and we’ll spec the right panel.
Are Hurst doors lead-free?
Hurst’s public materials don’t explicitly state lead-free formulation. The closed-loop recycling commitment suggests modern stabiliser chemistry but we’d recommend confirming with Hurst directly if lead-free is a critical specification requirement.
Are there fire-rated Hurst doors available?
Yes — the Hurst fire-door range is BM TRADA Q-Mark certified to EN 1634-1:2014+A1:2018. Suitable for commercial, multi-occupancy and Building Regulations Approved Document B fire-door requirements. Lead time is 6 weeks.
What warranty applies to Hurst panels?
Hurst trade warranties are confirmed but specific year terms aren’t published on the public site. Composite doors carry a 10-year parts guarantee. For the current PVC-U panel warranty schedule (panel skin, hardware, weatherability, colour fastness), contact us at point of quotation.
Can I see what a Hurst door will look like before I order?
Yes — Hurst Live (the trade portal) includes a Door Designer and 3D Visualiser. Speak to your branch and we’ll generate a visual of your selected style, colour, glass and hardware combination before placing the order.
