Stable Doors

Stable Doors

Practical charm. Independent sections. Built to last.

A stable door opens in two independent halves — keeping the top open for light and ventilation while the bottom section stays closed. Originally designed for farmhouses and rural properties, they’re equally at home on modern homes, cottages and rear kitchen entrances where you want the best of both worlds.

Our stable door range is built on the same high-density polyurethane foam core and GRP outer skin as our full composite door range — delivering the same thermal performance, security credentials and low-maintenance finish in six popular Farmhouse-inspired styles.

Why Choose a Stable Door?

Two-section operation The top and bottom halves operate independently. Open the top for fresh air and natural light while keeping children or pets safely inside — without closing off the room entirely.
Composite construction Built on the same GRP outer skin and polyurethane foam core as our full composite door range. Won’t warp, rot or fade. Low maintenance by design.
Thermal performance The foam core delivers a significantly better U-value than timber, helping to reduce heat loss at rear entrances — often the most overlooked part of a home’s thermal envelope.
Security Engineered to PAS24 standard in line with Approved Document Q. Multipoint locking as standard. Suitable for use with TS007 high-security cylinders and TS008 letterplates.
Full colour range Available in the complete composite door colour palette — 9 standard colours, 38 premium finishes and custom RAL matching. Dual colour (different inside and outside) is also available.
Bespoke glass options Can be specified with any glass style from the composite range as a bespoke service, including Pilkington Texture Glass, Premium Etched designs, Deco Tiles and Classic Tiles.

  • Arm or part-arm your home
  • 94dB intruder/panic alarm built into the hub
  • Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Philips Hue

Note: stable doors are currently under development for full Sentry sensor integration. Face-fixed retrofit sensors are available direct from Yale, enabling open/closed status monitoring via the app in the interim.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a stable door?

A stable door is divided horizontally into two independent sections. The top half can be opened separately from the bottom half, allowing ventilation and light without fully opening the door. Originally designed for agricultural use, they are now widely used on residential properties — particularly at rear or side entrances.

Are stable doors secure?

Yes. Our stable door range meets PAS24 standard in line with Approved Document Q. Multipoint locking is fitted as standard. Specify with TS007 3-star cylinders and TS008 letterplates for the highest security rating.

Are stable doors thermally efficient?

Yes. Built on the same high-density polyurethane foam core as the full composite door range, stable doors deliver a significantly better U-value than timber and comply with Document L and current Building Regulations.

What glass options are available?

Stable doors can be specified with any glass style from the composite door range as a bespoke service — including Pilkington Texture Glass, Deco Tiles and Classic Tiles. Pilkington obscure glass is also available across the range.

Can I have a stable door in a custom colour?

Yes. The full composite colour palette applies — 9 standard colours, 38 premium colours and custom RAL matching via the PAiNT service. Dual colour (different inside and outside) is also available.

What sizes are available?

Most styles range from 790–1018mm wide and 2017–2117mm in height. The Merion and Merion 4Grid styles start at a minimum width of 844mm. Exact dimensions are listed in the sizes table above.

Can I have a stable door without glazing?

Yes — the Solid option is a fully unglazed stable door, suitable for utility or side access applications where maximum privacy is required.
