Patio Doors
Silent action. Maximum light. Engineered for security.
A patio door is the classic solution for connecting a living space to a garden or terrace — one panel slides cleanly past the other, requiring no swing clearance and minimal floor space. But most patio doors on the market are still based on historic designs with well-known shortcomings: doors that rock on their tracks, require brute force to open, or are straightforward for an intruder to defeat.
Our patio door is a ground-up redesign. Built on the Liniar multi-chambered uPVC profile system, it features patented ModLok™ locking, unique air glide wheels, a built-in decelerator and ultra-slim sightlines — delivering a genuinely different product from anything else on the residential market.
Why This Patio Door?
| Silent action with self-cleaning brushes | Built-in brushes gently sweep away minor debris every time the door closes, maintaining the mechanism’s smooth, silent operation over the long term without the build-up that causes most patio doors to stiffen and grind over time. |
|---|---|
| Air glide wheels | Unique air glide wheels deliver an effortless, smooth sliding action from first use to last. No rocking on the track, no resistance — just clean, consistent movement every time. |
| Built-in decelerator and hidden crash stops | Engineered into the operating mechanism so as not to interrupt the slim sight lines. The decelerator controls the closing speed; hidden crash stops prevent the panel reaching the end of travel with force — protecting the frame and glazing. |
| ModLok™ patented locking system | The patented ModLok™ modular locking mechanism is built directly into the frame — not retrofitted onto it. This delivers unparalleled structural strength combined with high security hook locks and shootbolts, making it one of the most secure patio doors available on the market today. |
| Anti-snap security barrel | The security cylinder is anti-snap as standard, covered by the handle to prevent it being targeted. This addresses one of the most common attack vectors on sliding patio doors. |
| Ultra-slim sightlines | 8mm sash coverage — the best rating available for air leakage — combined with slim frame profiles delivers maximum glazed area, natural light and unobstructed garden views. |
| Thermally efficient lead-free profile | The Liniar multi-chambered uPVC profile system is lead-free and replaces traditional steel reinforcing with unique PVC inserts of equivalent tensile strength — delivering industry-leading energy efficiency from C to A+ rated, without the thermal bridging associated with steel. |
| Patented double-action gasket | Provides 30% better compression than standard gasket systems, improving weather sealing and draught resistance across the full door width. |
| Centralised Euro groove | Delivers improved strength and security at the sash meeting rail — a key structural weakness in conventionally designed patio doors. |
| Fully sculptured finish | The fully sculptured profile provides a quality, contemporary aesthetic — a clear visual step up from the flat-faced appearance of most budget sliding doors. |
| Anti-static, easy-clean profile | The anti-static surface resists dust and is easy to wipe down. Factory-fitted 32mm channel packers with toe and heel packers positioned for safe, efficient on-site glazing. |
| Flexible coupling and installation | Frames are designed to couple in multiple configurations, including alongside casement windows and other patio configurations. 10mm, 20mm and 50mm add-on options ensure a perfect fit for every opening. |

Security in Depth
The security specification is designed to address the known vulnerabilities of conventional sliding patio doors at every point:
| ModLok™ frame-integrated locking | The patented ModLok™ system is built into the frame structure rather than surface-mounted. This eliminates the weak point at the lock body that makes conventional patio door locking systems vulnerable to forced entry. |
|---|---|
| High security hook locks with shootbolts | Multiple locking points engage simultaneously when the door is locked — hook locks resist lever attack; shootbolts engage top and bottom of the frame to prevent the panel being lifted or prised. |
| Anti-snap, handle-covered cylinder | The security barrel is anti-snap as standard and covered by the handle, removing one of the most exploited attack methods on patio doors. |
| Secured by Design option | Available on request for installations requiring police-preferred security specification — recognised by insurers, local authorities and social housing providers. |
Configurations
Available in a range of standard configurations to suit different opening widths and installation requirements.
| Configuration | Description | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 2-pane (OX / XO) | One fixed panel, one sliding panel. The sliding panel moves left or right depending on configuration. | Standard residential garden access. Most common configuration. |
| 3-pane (OXX / XXO) | One fixed and two sliding panels, or variations with one wider fixed and one sliding. | Wider openings where a larger sliding panel is needed. |
| 4-pane (OXXO) | Two fixed outer panels with two central sliding panels opening from the centre. | Very wide openings requiring a generous central aperture. |
O = fixed panel, X = sliding panel. Additional configurations are available — speak to our team for a configuration diagram to suit your specific opening.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a patio door?
A patio door is a sliding door system where one or more panels slide horizontally on a track, passing in front of or behind fixed panels. They are typically used to provide access from a living or dining room to a garden, patio or terrace, and require no swing clearance inside or outside the building.
What makes this patio door different from standard sliding doors?
Most patio doors on the market are based on designs that haven’t fundamentally changed in decades. Our patio door features a number of proprietary innovations: the patented ModLok™ frame-integrated locking system, unique air glide wheels for silent smooth operation, built-in brushes that self-clean the track on closing, and a built-in decelerator with hidden crash stops. These features address the most common complaints about conventional patio doors — stiff operation, poor security and noisy closing.
How does ModLok™ work?
ModLok™ is a patented modular locking mechanism that is built structurally into the door frame rather than surface-mounted. This gives the lock body the same structural integrity as the frame itself, rather than relying on the surface fixing strength of a bolted-on unit. Combined with high security hook locks and shootbolts, it makes this one of the most secure sliding doors available in the residential market.
What security features are included as standard?
ModLok™ frame-integrated locking with high security hook locks and shootbolts, an anti-snap security cylinder covered by the door handle, and the option to upgrade to Secured by Design specification on request.
What sizes are available?
The minimum overall door size is 1600mm wide x 1900mm high. The maximum for a two-pane configuration is 2950mm wide x 2400mm high. Multiple panel configurations are available for wider openings — contact our team for a configuration specific to your opening dimensions.
Are patio doors thermally efficient?
Yes. The Liniar multi-chambered profile is a lead-free system that outperforms most leading UK brands on thermal efficiency, achieving energy ratings from C to A+. The unique PVC insert reinforcing system — used in place of traditional steel — eliminates thermal bridging through the frame, further improving the door’s insulating performance.
What colours are available?
The full Liniar colour range is available, including standard stocked colours (White, Rosewood, Cream, Irish Oak, Light Oak) and a wider range of special order foiled options including Chartwell Green, Grey and Black. Special order colours foiled one side have a 5–6 week lead time; both sides is 7–8 weeks.
Can a patio door be coupled with windows?
Yes — the Liniar frame is designed to couple in multiple configurations, including alongside casement windows. Multiple add-on widths (10mm, 20mm and 50mm) accommodate any installation requirement.
What warranty is included?
A 10-year profile warranty applies. Additional component warranties — covering locks, handles and hinges — may also apply. Speak to our team for the full warranty schedule at point of quotation.
Should I choose a patio door or a bi-fold door?
The main factors are opening width, floor space and aesthetic. Patio doors suit openings up to around 3m wide where a sliding solution is preferred and full-width opening is not required. Bi-fold doors suit wider openings or layouts where the homeowner wants to open the entire wall. Patio doors are generally more cost effective and require less installation disruption. Bi-fold doors deliver a more dramatic open-plan effect. Our team can advise on the right choice for any specific project.
