Water Supply & MDPE Fittings
Water supply MDPE fittings join the blue pipe that brings mains water from the boundary into a building, buried below the frost line. Elbows, couplings, tees and tapers cover 20mm to 63mm, with adaptors down to 15mm and 22mm copper. MDPE pipe fittings are compression, so no heat or solvent is needed. Runs beside underground drainage.

Frequently Asked Questions
The usual requirement is at least 750mm of cover and no more than 1350mm — deep enough to stay below frost, shallow enough to reach for repair. It should not share a trench with a drain or a cable without separation. Your water supplier sets the detail for the section up to the boundary, so check before you dig.
Granular material — pea shingle or similar — laid to an even bed so the pipe is supported along its whole length rather than bridging between high spots. Backfill in layers around and over it before any heavier material goes in. Pipe laid straight onto lumpy dug material is what cracks later under load.
With a flexible coupler sized to both outside diameters. Old clay, pitch fibre and cast iron were made to different sizes from modern plastic, so a straight socket will not seal. Measure the outside diameter of the existing pipe at a clean cut — not the bore — and match a coupler to that figure.
