Water Supply & MDPE Fittings

Water supply MDPE fittings join the blue pipe that brings mains water from the boundary into a building, buried below the frost line. Elbows, couplings, tees and tapers cover 20mm to 63mm, with adaptors down to 15mm and 22mm copper. MDPE pipe fittings are compression, so no heat or solvent is needed. Runs beside underground drainage.

Choosing Water Supply & MDPE Fittings

The blue pipe from the boundary

MDPE is the mains water supply run between the stop tap at the boundary and the property. It is blue so it cannot be confused with a drain or a gas line when someone digs it up in twenty years, and it is laid deep enough to stay below frost.

Compression, not heat

The fittings are compression, so there is no solvent, no soldering and no hot works in a trench. Each joint takes an insert in the pipe end to stop it collapsing under the nut — leaving that out is the single most common cause of a weeping MDPE joint.

Sizes

Elbows, couplings, tees and tapers from 20mm to 63mm, with adaptors down to 15mm and 22mm copper. Depth and separation from other services are set by your water supplier — check before backfilling.
